| Visit to United Methodist Schools The delegates spent a day visiting UM schools and connected projects in order to practice what they were learning in their photography and journalism classes. (The journalism classes included how to cover stories on people living with AIDs from a Christian perspective.) Their articles and photos were later shared and critiqued in class. |

This woman is a part of a group of women who volunteer their time to
sew school uniforms for
children who have lost their parents (often to AIDs). They have
received funds from ZOE,
a project started by United Methodists in the Carolinas to assist
orphaned children.
One of my favorite kids from my visit, Nesbert (above
in the middle), smiled and winked at me.
He loves to draw and wants to be a doctor.

The kids sang for us.
I'll share with you some audio from the trip just as soon as I learn
how!

It broke my heart to see so many kids without shoes,
although I'm told that this region does not have the same level of
illnesses spread through the feet as Congo does
(intestinal worms, for example, is a constant battle for the children's home in
Kamina)
