And other pictures...

Dad's other reason for returning to Lubudi was to finish the rough draft

on the book version of his doctoral thesis on preaching and community development

(which includes several examples from his work in DR Congo).

He was happy that we ended up staying at the covent in Lubudi he had visited years ago;

it provided the perfect writing environment.

While Dad was busy writing, I conversed with Shabana and Kayembe,

as they spent as much time as possible improving their computer skills on the laptops I brought.

Shabana used the time to do some reflective writing of his own, including

an essay on growing up the son of a United Methodist pastor in North Katanga.

above & below: The interior courtyard of the convent felt like an oasis,

reminding us of the kind of Congo God desires.

Above: My favorite picture of Arlette and my godchild, Taylor Ann.

Below: My favorite picture of Mama DS in Lubudi.

Above: My new friend, Rev. Kabange, who has been accepted to study at Asbury Seminary in the USA.

Below: Nkulu (my friend since 2005) and his mother. Nkulu, an active United Methodist, has been working tirelessly for disability support for her mother, who lost her hands a few years ago in a train accident

(the judge has ruled in her favor, but the train company has yet to provide assistance)

below: Last but certainly not least, we got to have a short visit with Bishop Ntambo and

Mama Bishop. Their flight arrived while we were at the airport waiting for our flight to board!

(FYI- The blue dress I'm wearing was a present from the Lubudi district. Dad has a matching shirt)
